Forged iron in four major pierced, comprising split mouth piece and large side rings. Two additional rein mounts to one side. 9” width plus the rein mounts. Sized for the Icelandic pony (or horse). Conserved stable excavated condition with some hammer scale, part of the original surface. Very rarely found intact. The Icelandic pony or horse has descended from those brought by Vikings. It is of short stature and muscular build, stable in rocky terrain and endowed with a heavy winter coat.
