Forged iron, 3 1/4” length. The top tapered, of rectangular section form over an elongated pyramidal form spike. Used to straighten sword blades, damaged in battle. The spike was drivel into a log or tree and the blade edge hammered against to top. Considerable effects of use in its working life. See The Mastermyr Find, Arwidsson and Berg, #72 for a related example found in Gotland, Sweden.
